On this page you can find some of my 3D digital design work created using Blender 2.92, a free 3D modeling and rendering software package.
The Project: 3D Design
For this project I chose to create multiple 3D models using Blender. Due to my love of fantasy films and games, I decided to create a weapon and shield that would fit into a fantasy landscape. After creating the base models and UV texturing the asset, I used a variety of assets and textures available online to create the end scene. After creating the entire scene, I chose to do further experimentation, as you can see.

The Sword In The Stone
As my first attempt in making something like this in Blender, I am incredibly proud of the final render. The atmosphere of the shot is exactly what I was aiming for and really creates the fantasy vibe that I wanted.

Dark Sword
Using the same sword asset I chose to experiment with how the colour of a scene can affect the overall feel and vibe. To experiment I simply chose to alter the colour of the background world, changing it to a deep, blood red. This worked exactly as I had hoped, changing an atmoshperic and mysterious object into something that feels inherently evil.

Light Sword
Contrasting the previous render, I chose to choose a lighter blue paired with a white light source. This worked in exactly the opposite way as before, adding the sense of mystery and ellegance to the final render.

Shield In The Cave
Making use of the same cave set that I had constructed for the sword render, I chose to create a shield asset that could be paired with the sword. With a few rearrangements of the rocks, lighting and god rays, the final product is as can be seen here. It manages to catch the same wonder and mystery as the sword scene, creating a sense of unity between the pieces that I wanted to see.
